In just a little over one week the US Supreme Court will be hearing legal arguments concerning whether or not gay and lesbian couples have a constitutional right to get married. The court will announce their ruling in June.

Currently, same sex marriage is legal in 37 states and the District of Columbia. The first state to legalize it was Massachusetts, in 2004. Most - indeed nearly 95% - of the lower court rulings have gone in favor of gay marriage.

What do you think?

You need a third option, which is that the Supreme Court will rule that it is up to the states to make this determination, which is the Federalist position, and basically the status quo that was in effect before the left began filing suits in the courts of leftist judges with a view towards stacking up favorable rulings without any negative ones.

This third option is the most likely, partisan leftist "experts" opinions on the subject notwithstanding.

Under that ruling, some states will have it, and some states won't.

I think the LGBT community has crossed the line with the constant harrassment of Christians, and it is turning public opinon against them.

SCOTUS will most likely legalize it even if the majority of Americans are against it. It's basically inevitable at this point.

I think they will vote for, 5-4.

They have already decided that a US citizen in one state has the same fundamental rights as a US citizen in another state.

They have already decided that marriage is a right of being a US citizen.

They have already decided that the federal government has no compelling interest in barring SSM.

I just don't see the majority going back on any of those things, although I am sure the minority argument will be states' rights and traditional view of marriage.

It's not a "third option". The Court has accepted cases from Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee and will rule on whether their anti-gay marriage laws are constitutional.

This is news to me, please cite some recent statistics that counter the numerous polls showing that support for SSM is increasing.

Besides, although I certainly think that the Supreme Court should show a "decent respect for the opinions of mankind", in the end, they are not bound by what is popular.

They will WRONGFULLY legalize it...another boot heel in the 10th amendment. I wish I was as optimistic as the 2 that voted they would vote against it but I am a realist.

Based on the signals the SCOTUS has been sending of late, I would say 5-4 in favor of gay marriage with Justice Kennedy casting the fifth vote.
