Well, that's like saying Ronald Reagan won his first election in a landslide because the majority of the 25% of the population who bothered to vote chose him. A bit over half of 25% of the population is far from a landslide.
If the Democrats were so enamored with Jimmy Carter and his "national malaise". why didn't they turn out to vote for the nuclear engineer and peanut farmer?
Precedent has been set that the courts will overturn election results. Not unlike a school board holding an election on issues and not liking the outcome, simply ignore the voters. That is the case in NJ at least
yes courts do overturn election ballots....when the court decides they are not within the bounds of the constitution..... likes calis prop 8..... voters said one thing..courts said not so fast
but this is the case of a territory have the chance to vote yea/nay for statehood.... they did vote 94% of the voters said yes to statehood
it would be stupid to classify them as anything but americans
The only problem with your post is the lack of capitalization of the people who deserve a proper noun. The natives of Hawaii deserve the title of Americans.

In the post-Crimea world and as part of RT's whoring to the government in Moscow, it must perpetuate the sentiment that every region of the world has a right to self-determination except, of course, Russia's separatists regions. The secessionist movements in either state are so small that they wouldn't garner any attention otherwise.
The former Soviet satellite states which were not predominantly Russian were
broken apart from Russia in the 1990's. This is 2015.

but Crimea was part of Russia, before it was even the Soviet Union, and Crimea is still a majority Russian..and THEY VOTED for their independence from the nazi-sympathetic Ukraine

I didn't mean that, I was highlighting that the "native" people of Hawaii and Alaska are Americans. It was a rhetorical comment.
