Ya know what?

All of you chronic tax complainers should take charge of your lives and use some initiative to improve your circumstances.

Don’t like your taxes now?

Move to an isolated rural location with no water, sewer or sanitation. A place that’s many miles from police, sheriff, and fire departments. No schools anywhere within a 10 mile radius. Nothing but dirt roads with no snow removal in the winter.

There are lots of locations like this around the country.

You’ll love the low taxes.

Carry on.

The last time Congress passed an Amtrak bill was after a fatal train crash - The Washington Post

In 2008, the Democrat-controlled Congress and the Bush White House were at odds over an Amtrak bill. Democrats wanted to double Amtrak’s budget. The Bush administration wanted to zero it out. A reauthorization bill had languished for years and funding was static.

Then in September, a commuter passenger rail train collided with a freight train in Los Angeles killing 25 people and injuring dozens. Suddenly, Congress did what it does best: React.

Amtrak is a private business. I do not want to fund nor give any kind of government loans at all to private businesses. if they cannot make it on their own, then let them fail.

As tired a canard as 'why don't you Libertarians move to Somalia', but the internet never sleeps.

Seeing as how all of that stuff is paid for with local taxes, you can reasonably approximate your 'point' by thinking about property and sales taxes...and that's all. I think most people would consider that a reasonable expense, except perhaps those in the states that are held at gunpoint by .gov unions.

The US Government loses over $80 million a year at AmTrak on food service waste and employee theft. If they can't count sodas and cheesburgers they should not be getting any additional money.

Republicans do and will pay for infrastructure if they benefit directly from the infrastructure. They do it in the form of campaign contributions. Which is a form of legal bribery.

Lets say a wealthy business person has a warehouse in Tenbucktwo and needs a road built to it. The road cost ten million to build. He hires a lobbyist and pays him to convince the "powers that be" to build the road. Maybe, he pays out one million in campaign contributions and the road is built. His cost to get it done is only 10 % and the politicians put 100% on the public and claim it as a jobs bill. We see this all the time in states and the big city with sports teams and big business where they are given special consideration on taxes and infrastructure to locate there. There is no requirement that they be Republicans. The only requirement is that they have the funds to make the bribes. This is a trick the government picked up from the Mob Play Book. All you need to know is the rules. Then have the money to manipulate the players.

Yeah, there was only one shovel ready job with Obamacare and we know what was shoveled cause now we're eating for lunch every day.

Gee, your job killing hero had an opportunity to prove you right.

Unfortunately he killed construction jobs. Same type of jobs you are whining about.

Keystone ring a bell?

The government does it all the time. Remember the Great Wall street bailout in the waning days of the Bush administration? The feds passed out a trillion dollars to the financial fat cats on the theory that they were "too big to fail."

It made no difference that these companies and the financial wizards running them had created the disaster themselves.

And that doesn't even touch the gazillions handed out to defense contractors, Big oil, pro sports teams, real estate developers, you name it.
