I heard about this earlier. Baltimore cops, who spoke anonymously, said they are doing their job--exactly their job. And nothing more.
They're responding to the calls they receive. If they arrest someone, the public is still surrounding them and throwing things at them.
But the "proactive" police work that they did before? Why? The citizens of Baltimore don't want them around, the mayor seems to want them all in jail and they're still looking at their fellow officers awaiting trial.
I'd think it would be hard to get back to that mind-set of protecting the public when the public is telling you daily that you're the enemy.
I totally get that cops can't overstep their bounds and need to be held accountable when they do. They can't just go around beating and killing people without justification.
On the other hand, I also have to say that it's become demonstrated that a lot of people in crime-challenged communities are opposing ANY police action on the basis of race, even when lethal action by the cops was justified. You have cases of people running from the cops, resisting arrest, attacking them...and still people express support for the criminal and condemn the police officer managing the situation.
We already know based on evidence that the whole "hands up, don't shoot" thing was a lie.
So how can you have it both ways? How can you condemn police for every action they take against people of your own race, even when justified, and then also condemn them when they don't take any action and the criminal elements in your community spike the murder rates?
According to people like you all cops are useless. So at this point what difference does it make?
What do you mean people like me????
Thats RACIST!!!!!!!!!
