The convicted murderer of the Colorado movie theater shootings has allegedly converted to Islam and uses it to justify his murderous actions.

Is this guy completely nuts? Is this an attempt to be spared the death penalty as he pretends to be insane?

Do we even need to ask if he's completely nuts? He stormed into a movie theater in full tactical gear prepared with tear gas grenades and proceeded to murder 12 people and injure 70 more.

It is my understanding that one cannot be claim insanity when the murder is premeditated, as his act absolutely was. That doesn't mean you're not mentally ill, it just means that you're not criminally insane.

Those two sentences, taken together, don't make any sense. How can he be "completely nuts" but pretending to be "insane?" A lot of people seem to have such a view though. From the little I know, he probably is insane. I doubt that will help him out in his sentencing though.

Each sentence has a question after it, meaning each sentence could be true or it could not be true.

I don't think it will help him either and he may be doing it without any sentencing motives.

It is the religion where an act of love is killing as many people as possible.

rather cuts down on the intimacy doesnt it?

chances are this is a ploy to avoid the death penalty. whether it will work or not depends on how many people buy into the ploy, and let their hearts bleed for holmes.

Being mentally ill and a calculating, manipulative SOB are not mutually exclusive.

Insane or not, that's smart of him. The farther right you get, the more people will associate his Islam with his acts (ignoring the fact that he was not a Muslim when he did this) and this will anger the liberal crowd, who are more willing to go against the death penalty anyway, but if you make him a minority religion AND have conservative commentators using that to justify execution, he could actually have supporters.

Sorry, that was quite the run on sentence, but either way, brilliant on his part.

to my knowledge no one but holmes is using islam to justify his actions. as for using his conversion to justify holmes execution, i dont think they need to do that. there is enough justification already.
