This used to be the kind of headline you would only see in The Onion. But now nothing surprises me with the head socialist in charge.
Looks like Obama just gained a lot of sons in prison. I didn't think you could sink much lower than being in prison. But somehow, these inmates just did.
I agree with Obama, we need to reform the prison system.... We have too many in there that should not be in there... And I would even make it retroactive...

National Statistics on Recidivism
Bureau of Justice Statistics studies have found high rates of recidivism among released prisoners. One study tracked 404,638 prisoners in 30 states after their release from prison in 2005.
The researchers found that:
Within three years of release, about two-thirds (67.8 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested.
Within five years of release, about three-quarters (76.6 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested.
Of those prisoners who were rearrested, more than half (56.7 percent) were arrested by the end of the first year.
Property offenders were the most likely to be rearrested, with 82.1 percent of released property offenders arrested for a new crime compared with 76.9 percent of drug offenders, 73.6 percent of public order offenders and 71.3 percent of violent offenders.
It's fascinating to me that someone can take what a group of people said about themselves and actually use that to criticize Obama. It's just amazing.
I agree with Obama on this one. Our justice system is failing us. We need to stop putting everyone in prison for mild offenses and we need a prison system that addresses recidivism properly and maintains humane treatment. I don't want tax payer money going to indefinitely incarceration. The average prison doesn't need to be in there for decades at a time. Get them in, punish their crime, get them motivated and help them learn skills, then find a reentry program for them and afford them their second chance.
That is pretty harsh but sadly some will end up on the wrong end of a gun. They will get out of prison and go back to their old ways which got them in there in the first place. Some people just don't learn.
I am sure that there are some prisoners that don't belong in there and others that received harsh sentences but we have to remember there is a reason they are there. They broke the law.
I have somehow lived my life in a way that I have never been arrested and have never had to face a judge and I plan on keeping it that way. I'm sure there are many CD folks here that can say the same.
The majority of guys in prison do look like Treyvon. All those men started off as cute babies, turned into kids and were the apple of their moms eye with the world before them and then something happened as they hit their teen years. They start running the streets learning from older kids that it is cool to hang out and eventually they get into trouble. Guarantee that most of those Treyvon prisoners have prior arrests before being given hard time.
There has to be a way to intercept these young men and keep them on the straight path and it is not in the form of more Gov. handouts and programs.
They need to change their ways and recognize that being a hood is not something to be proud of.
I think it is crazy how Obama is listening to them and will let many go. We are facing a time when we need to get tough on crime not soft. Obama has allowed our borders to become soft and now we have illegal aliens killing citizens.
Obama is a scary individual that has zero common sense.
