While many have been vocal in their outrage about our disarmed troops in the aftermath of yesterday’s tragedy, at least one GOP presidential candidate had been warning of this danger just days before. (Of course, we have been sounding this alarm for some time now, as noted here.)
Yes, a mere days BEFORE yesterday’s shooting, GOP candidate of the moment Donald Trump sounded off about the dangers of gun-free zones on military bases.
Here’s what he said in a recent interview with Ammoland.com:
As Commander-in-Chief, I would mandate that soldiers remain armed and on alert at our military bases.
President Clinton never should have passed a ban on soldiers being able to protect themselves on bases. America’s Armed Forces will be armed.
They will be able to defend themselves against terrorists. Our brave soldiers should not be at risk because of policy created by civilian leadership.
