One mass killing with 77% odds a gun was used, on average, every two weeks and you don't have a problem? Cripes!
Let's put mass killings in perspective. Here are deaths by cause in the USA.

Number of deaths for leading causes of death:
Heart disease: 611,105
Cancer: 584,881
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 149,205
Accidents (unintentional injuries): 130,557
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 128,978
Alzheimer's disease: 84,767
Diabetes: 75,578
Influenza and Pneumonia: 56,979
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 47,112
Intentional self-harm (suicide): 41,149
Mass murder shooting deaths (2014): 9

Did you notice how many mass murder deaths we had last year? There were 9 mass murder deaths in the USA last year.

So yes, there is no mass murder problem in the USA.

The other poster is right - there IS no middle ground. And you're not going to fix people in the next 100,000 years. At that point, there will likely be many more broken people per thousand than we see today.

We must, at least 100 years too late, recognize the madness inherent in a culture where any and every man and woman who so desires has a weapon on their hip designed and built for no other purpose but to kill instantly at range.

If there is a mental health problem that we could realistically and effectively address, it is the generational brainwashing that convinces so many that guns are just another "tool", that they are an essential part of life, and that nothing can or should be done about the pain, anguish, and havoc they wreak around us every single day.

Addressing the mental health issue would absolutely impact the wrong people obtaining a fire arm. If you are seeing a doctor for anger issues, paranoia etc, you have no business owning a lethal weapon.
I would also be fore heavy penalties for the criminals who buy guns legally and sell them illegally to the criminal element.

Easiest way to handle this: Give out loaded guns to theater patrons as they walk in. Collect them at the end of the movie as they walk out. Problem solved.

Conservative thinking always wins!

This is true. Mass murderers rarely kill armed people.

Thats right. The two cops in Las Vegas that were killed by those "don't tread on me" loonies were not armed. Oh, wait a second..

(so was the guy at Wal-Mart they killed 20 minutes later)..
