Every man dropping out of the work force creates jobs for five replacement workers.

It's Keynesian!

It's Keynesian!

What, exactly, makes these guys "unsuitable mates" for women?

So which is it ?
What I am seeing are former professional women who have spent 15 - 20 years at home going back to work to fund the college educations of their children. They are competing with kids fresh out of school and bring maturity and life experience to the table.

In contrast, many 50 something, professional men seem to find themselves out of work due to early retirement offers and mergers and acquisitions. Their positions became obsolete. They are far more challenged to find a position that compensates them as nearly as well as their former jobs. Depending on the family's financial situation, some of these guys are more likely to land a part time job somewhere or the occasional consulting gig, until something better, if ever, comes along. If they are reasonably financially secure, they seem to eventually slide into premature retirement.

The labor participation rate has been declining for 15 years. It was projected in 2000 and 2005 that the labor participation rate would continue to decline for decades.

The labor participation rate was lower for the 30 year period between the 1940's- 70's. The increase in the labor participation rate coincided with the entry of the baby boom into the work force, before technology and outsourcing made millions of middle class jobs obsolete.

Now that women are in almost every field except the brawn over brain ones, men can't compete. It happens years earler. They are immature compared to girls and the girls do better in school, get the grades, get the scholarships and get the jobs. Boys are left to mop the floors. We might consider starting boys in school a few years after girls to adjust for the maturity gap, or be more willing to hold them back when they fall behind.

A typical woman would rather live alone than try to tolerate living with a guy with no sex appeal. Am I RIGHT, ladies??
The sexiest thing about a man is located in his head.

We could try segregating the school. Boys perform better in boys-only schools.

And of course, they are then unsuitable mates for women and so that further compounds their depression and need to tune out of society.

Anyone else noticing this?
How is that 'dropping out of society?' I like video games. Not much of a sports fan, but I enjoy other things that aren't really 'necessary.' As for a job, mediocrity is somewhat subjective. Some people do jobs to pay the bills and to have extra cash flow so they can spend it on things they enjoy, like video games or cable so they can watch sports. Some people do jobs because they're good at them. A job may seem mundane but if they do it well, why not? Some do jobs because they care. Some of those jobs may not be too glamorous.

Some people do get stuck in dead end jobs they hate, which is unfortunate, but people need to understand that they can quit a job and find a new one whenever they want. Yeah, quitting is a risk, but if you want to change your current circumstance, you have to take risks. That's how everything works. Diving into the uncertain isn't meant to be a cake walk.

Regardless, that's not dropping out of society at all. Dropping out would be giving up on employment all together.

I'd take video games over a relationship any day.

They're too homely looking for today's women. Young women today want decent looking, hot guys to show off to their friends and parents. I doubt guys get sexier to the women from the sedentary effects of sitting down all day playing video games.
