This so called "diversity" kick we're on wouldn't even be an issue if we were all treated with equal expectations and judged based on equal qualifications.

It depends on the diversity. Some diversity works better than others, because not everyone is the same. That should be obvious, but apparently it has to be stated over and over again.

I don't know about that. I'm tired of kowtowing to the minority, primarily immigrants not from Europe or Asia. Diversity only works if the newly arrived minority respects and embraces the ethos of the dominant culture.

Diversity does not work at all because:

A) Not all peoples have the same ability level.
B) Not all groups of people are putting in the same effort.

It is extemely painful to admit, but, for example, when looking at African American IQs, they are on average 15 points lower than white, and lower still compared to Asians.

Without getting into nature/nurture (and I am mostly a nurture guy) this is a reality. There is no way to have genuine "diversity" for African Americans when only 11% of them have an average or better IQ.

It is just reality. As I am a nurture guy, yes, I think the situation could be improved if African Americans in general worked harder in school, but having set asides at university and in companies just leads to them skirting though school by writing papers about racism or serving as coddled mascots drawing a paycheck whiles others do their work.

It ought to be diversity of opportunity, which we have due to our public education system, not diversity of outcome.

This applies for all races. Whites will not have as many engineers as Asians in a perfect world, because we aren't producing enough people with the qualifications. The African American example was just because that is where the differances are starkest. I find it repulsive that we have decided as a nation that more qualified and harder working people should not get the best spots because they are the wrong race. Too many Asians were valedictorians this year...Sorry.

If there really is a beleif in and commitment to diversity, then lets start in professional sporting leagues. Because whites are about 65% of the population, I think 65% of the NBA is fair.

Just because all groups don't have the same level of success doesn't mean that diversity can't work. Do you guys realize that most societies around the world are diverse? Only East Asian countries for the most part are homogeneous.

I just don't think people are equal until you expect and demand they BE equal.

LOL...really? And just how do you do that?

People are different. Accept that and keep it moving.

“Can you cite one speck of hard evidence of the benefits of "diversity" that we have heard gushed about for years? Evidence of its harm can be seen — written in blood — from Iraq to India, from Serbia to Sudan, from Fiji to the Philippines. It is scary how easily so many people can be brainwashed by sheer repetition of a word.”
