Oh, but if you complain about it, even on here, better have you flame suit on. I complained about our county employees accrung 900 HOURS, roughly six month paid vacation, and I got three pages of folks who think that is just dandy.
If I don't work I don't get paid. No vacation. No free medical. MY money is stolen from me in excessive taxes to support these inflated salaries and benefits of bloated govt staff.
But are Americans outraged? Course not. We are the problem by not giving more.
This is why several counties around DC have the highest average income in the nation. However, it appears to be political suicide to try to deal with the problem.
I don't know about federal employees, but my son is a CPA with a County job. He makes about 30k a year less than an equivalent private sector employee. He doesn't complain, it's his choice to stay there, he does so for the good health insurance and defined benefit retirement. If they got rid of those two benefits he would put in his notice and go to work in the private sector without giving it a second thought.
Government employees cover a wide sprectrum..... so to have a blanket assertion that govt employees make more than private sector in some areas may be true but certainly not all.
I work for the National Weather Service and a federal employee...work rotating shifts, etc and a job I love. But boy I sure do wish I had all that money some claim we must have. I must have missed out....
So while yes some govt employees do make out well compared to private sector.....I hate these studies as they tend to put all govt employees under the same blanket which is the farthest from the truth.

Misleading title. The study is talking about federal workers, not all government workers. They did not include state, county, city, or various district employees. Teachers and other school staff are government employees, and are barely making enough to live on despite being union. Many, if not most have gone years without a raise. In the tech jobs, public employees are paid much less than in private industry. It's mostly the clerical, admin type jobs where the government workers, mostly because of their unions make more than in others. I agree that many federal employees are paid too much, including
(especially) the politicians.
YES certain ones do-specially the top--- but not all- Do they make just minimum wage? maybe not- but for sure our military makes CRAP for the job they do. With all the budget cuts, many doing just like the rest, the work of 4 for the pay of one.
The little guys at the bottom- not the big wigs- get under compensated, just like the rest of America. Takes a lot of little feet to move this nation.
Having worked in BOTH the private sector for over 40 years and the fed for 20, I disagree with the "study"
Note: The article did NOT post any info on the data on how the study was conducted.
