Tragic but not criminal. Lets see if the prosecutor bows to public pressure. Also you have to love how the media manipulates facts. Yes he was 12 years old. He was also 5 ft 7 inches tall and 195 pounds. Of course they would like to leave that fact out. A 12 year old with a gun can kill you as quick as a 30 year old.
The officer who fired had been deemed emotionally/cognitively immature (and quit because he knew he would get fired)at his previous posting, the other had previously used excessive force to which the police force payed out $100,000.

Certain people should not be cops.
That is your opinion. Yeah a 12 year old is dead. No doubt about it that's a tragic thing. If the gun was real the cop could be dead in under a second. Cop had to make a split second decision. Now they have two independent analysts look at what happened and they concluded the cop was not wrong.

Stop right there.
The COP made a bad choice. From a strategy standpoint (I feel we discuss this in many threads) by pulling up right on someone who is 'supposedly' armed and shooting within 3 seconds of arriving.
The COP made a mistake. The COP made a mistake. Tamir Rice wasn't a bad kid for playing in the park.
I'm not here calling for the officers head or for him to spend his life in prison but there has to be some type of consequence. Hell, isn't that what the Police are for??
Why is it that the Police are the only profession where they are not penalized for their mistakes? People in other industries will take extra precautions because they don't want to get fired. In one where your dealing with life, those precautions need to be taken.
