And this is what all the fuss around the YouTube video is about. That they didn't change the talking points for two weeks. Horrors! This is sooooo important that we've needed nine investigations. Beyond ridiculous.
No, the "fuss" is that during that period, knowing full well there was no video involved, they LIED to the families of the dead victims, Hillary even stating they would arrest the producer of the video responsible for their son's death, knowing full well that would never happen.
And the "fuss" is over the fact they lied in order to deceive the American people, blaming a video instead and trying to hide their reckless incompetence at securing the embassy, and not wanting us to know their phony messaging that terrorism was waning under their leadership was a sham -- all this right before the election.

Too much time spent on the video, the hearings were supposed to offer suggestions to improve procedures so they never happened again. I don't know what type of procedures you put in place to protect embassy employees at an outpost in a foreign country in the middle of a civil war.
What security was going to protect them in Benghazi, we couldn't send in military. The reasons for not responding have already been documented in detail, you can choose to believe them or not.
The point is whether they were attacked because of a video or a pre-planned attack it doesn't matter, but that consumed the largest part of the hearing.
Other units? You make it sound like our government had designated capable military security units to respond to a terrorist attack against our diplomats and state department employees in Libya.
It is obvious that the civilian contractors working over at the CIA annex were not in any way shape or form an emergency response plan to defend our people.
There was no plan from our state department to defend the consulate should it come under attack, none. Those poor souls were left to come up with their own means of defending themselves, they were hung out to dry.
If ambassador Stevens had called the state department to ask what type of emergency response plan Hilary had in place to repel an enemy assault, in the event the consulate came under terrorist attack, the answer would have been:
"Ummm.... we do not have any plan, no one will come to your rescue. Even if the attack goes on and on over an eight hour time period, you guys will be all on your own. Wait a tic, hey.... why not give those guys a call over at the CIA annex, they might be able to toss something together at the last minute."
There were very few assets that were available for an immediate response that could be deployed in a timely fashion. Glen Doherty was part a team the could and did respond, flying from Tripoli to Benghazi in response to the initial attack.
There is an accusation out there, and made in this thread, that no one in the administration did anything in response to the attack. Not being able to deploy immediately and not responding at all is not the same thing. Delta was deployed from the US to Sicily on 9/12. The QRF team in Europe redeployed from Croatia to Sicily on 9/12. Units of the FAST team in Spain deployed from Spain to Tripoli on 9/12. Units of the FAST team in Spain were also being preparing to deploy to Benghazi, but didn't because the CIA annex in Benghazi was evacuated on the morning of 9/12.
During the time period some are claiming nothing was being done a lot of units were being mobilized.
I would also note the the CIA in Benghazi was also not prepared to repel a major assault, yet I see very little focus on Petraeus.
Systemic failures and leadership and management deficiencies at senior levels within two bureaus of the State Department resulted in a Special Mission security posture that was inadequate for Benghazi and grossly inadequate to deal with the attack that took place.
I was the first person to post that very language from the ARB in this thread, so I'm familiar with the findings of the ARB.

If everyone knew full well there was no video involved did the CIA link the attack in Benghazi to the video within the first 2 weeks after the attack?
