Yep. The myths about European immigration are laughable.
Like i said earlier, there were 700 German language dailies in this country at the start of WW1.
It was totally normal to find people in ethnic enclaves that didn't know a word of English all across this country. Their children learned English, but many if not most in that first generation rarely bothered to learn it. They didn't have to.
