If this kid is so offended over this at 17 I hope he plans on living with his parents for as long as they live and working from home. I personally find the red cups boring; if there's any time to embellish it's this time of year. Did they market test this? Is our increasingly non-Christisan population refusing to buy coffee in the Christmas cups? I bet people actually buy more coffee with the festive cups because we're seasonal creatures and respond subconsciously to symbols.
A lame decision from my design viewpoint, but hardly religious persecution.
I'm conservative and this doesn't bother me. Haven't drank any Starbucks coffee since my first sip in 1996. Tossed out the remaining coffee and never returned. I brew my own coffee at home with a popular local brand called Community Coffee.
I have to wonder about anyone that would get upset over something they saw on Facebook or someone that would get upset over someone that got upset over something they saw on Facebook.
Well, on that... Didn't we all burn fiercely for some cause or other in our teens? I know I did. I also cringe when thinking back. But back then, media weren't going to hand me the microphone so I could share my 17-year-old insights with the world, and I think the world was better for it.
The fact that grown men think this column is worth sharing with the world is what depresses me.

I can't believe that at 17 his parents let him drink coffee.
Uhhh...folks...if the cup offends you, don't buy your coffee at Starbucks. I think buying takeout coffee is a waste of money anyway. Invest in a Keurig or coffe maker, buy it in a can, and make it at home for pennies.

At age 17 I had two children to take care of, and was just entering the Coast Guard. My high school enemy was going to his first death penalty trial, and I was worried that they would try and make me testify at his death penalty trial, and take me from boot camp. Sooo...no I wasn't too interested in come "cause", I had more important things going on.
Is this what I missed out on? Being a moron in print at age 17?
Also...welcome to how everyone on both side feels here sometimes.
Unless the byline on the story is incorrect, yes.
