We should not recognize any Muslim, Jewish or any other religious holidays at all. However, if those students who happened to be Muslims or Jews or whatever...they can have the day off. Kind of like a PTO.
Even though I am not Christian, I agree with this.

As an immigrant to a majority Christian country (US) I expect holidays and customs on Christian traditions, I would have the same attitude if I moved to a Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim......majority country.

I dont think the Western world should start giving religious holidays for other religions, because there are so many religions and customs in US with immigrants from all over the world that where do you draw the line.

If I was a student, I'd be thrilled. Another day off? Yes!

I have a solution. We'll just secularize the holiday like we do with x-mas and easter. This time, let's have a turtle that makes coffee and donuts. We'll call him Ramaturtle.

Can't argue with the above.

The Founding Fathers, despite all their human flaws, definitely got it right in not coddling and favoring any religion by the gubmint.

I don't like it bc I don't like Muslims. Tough to set school policy on that principal, but just how I feel

At least you're honest, I guess.

I think every parent should be able to choose 5 personal days off per year so that whatever religion that family celebrates, they can observe.

Either that, or do it by demographics. Any religious group represented by more than 10% of the students, for example, will be observed by the school.

Actually, best solution would be to actually recognize the separation of state and religion, and not have any religious holidays. Instead, have seasonal holidays. Spring break conveniently encapsulates Easter, Winter break captures Christmas and sometimes Hanukkah. Summer break catches Ramadan.

At my location some parents are pulling their children out of public schools because of the schools adopting muslim agendas.
The sad thing here is that Americans are now threatened on their own soil. How long will it take for radical muslims to start attacking the innocents here?

Yeah those aren't secular holidays, they just happen to fall during Easter and Christmas, it's a miracle.

Take those holiday's away and listen to the silence

By the way what's with a 6 month old link brought back to life, anything new.
