I think most of these people are probably good people looking for a better life.

When I lived in Miami I was the only American born person in a company that represented about 15 different countries and I left there with some lifelong friends. My wife came here from another country.

As bad as I feel for some of these people, I think we really have to be careful about this situation. I can see this as an opportunity for people that don't have our best interests at heart. I don't know what the answer is.

Thanks for the level-headed response, norb. I perhaps overreacted...but the hate in this thread was so strong.

Your overreaction says to me that you have a big heart. It's a sad situation, and there is overreaction on both sides. I wish I had the answer.

BTW, I'm not saying we shouldn't bring some of these people to the U.S. I'm just saying we should be very careful how we do it. I am no expert on the Middle East, and I can't watch the world news for more than a few minutes without getting frustrated and turning it off, but there seems to be a large group of people over there who really don't like us.

That's exactly how they want you to think so you support more war.

His viewpoint isn't as simplistic as you think it is.

But anyway, I stepped back into this sewer of a thread, and now it's time for me to go again.

Enjoy the Syrians. Syrians are good people, they will not hurt a fly.

Annie, I don't know who "they" is. I don't support any war.

I just want to be sure that the people who are causing all of the trouble over there don't end up over here because we didn't do a thorough job of checking things out. I have heard that there is a vetting process that is very thorough, and if that's the case, I'm ok with it.

Call me paranoid if you want. I have kids that I love dearly, and I worry about their future.

Thank you. I wish I would have stayed away also. Everyone is so far to one side or the other on this subject. Somewhere in the middle there has to be a way to help these people without putting security at risk.
