POINT/COUNTERPOINT
March 26, 2003
VOL 43 ISSUE 12
War · Iraq · Opinion

George W. Bush may think that a war against Iraq is the solution to our problems, but the reality is, it will only serve to create far more.

This war will not put an end to anti-Americanism; it will fan the flames of hatred even higher. It will not end the threat of weapons of mass destruction; it will make possible their further proliferation. And it will not lay the groundwork for the flourishing of democracy throughout the Mideast; it will harden the resolve of Arab states to drive out all Western (i.e. U.S.) influence.

If you thought Osama bin Laden was bad, just wait until the countless children who become orphaned by U.S. bombs in the coming weeks are all grown up. Do you think they will forget what country dropped the bombs that killed their parents? In 10 or 15 years, we will look back fondly on the days when there were only a few thousand Middle Easterners dedicated to destroying the U.S. and willing to die for the fundamentalist cause. From this war, a million bin Ladens will bloom.

This War Will Destabilize The Entire Mideast Region And Set Off A Global Shockwave Of Anti-Americanism vs. No It Won

The Onion got it right, imagine that?

Wow.

It's a sad testament that people today have turned to comedians to receive honest news (The Daily Show, Colbert Report) and The Onion had more sense in 2003 than scores of people in our military/political and media systems.

We're Learning More From Stephen Colbert Than The Actual News, Study Says

SURVEY: Daily Show/Colbert Viewers Most Knowledgable, Fox News Viewers Rank Lowest | ThinkProgress

This really shows how today the corporate news is heavily censored/monitored. Most of it is nothing more than propaganda-fear porn and rallying to support the next war.

They already hate us....so I'd rather they fear us!

We've been fighting these folks since America was founded....they will not stop their hatred....so we need to make it not worth their while to mess with us. BTW... THEY are messing with US...we have NOT been messing with THEM....time to turn the tables.

I recently heard that the former Bruce Jenner was willing to donate his balls to Obama....perhaps he should take him/her up on that!

well if killing them hasn't stopped them so far, and in fact created more, what do you suggest?

They always said truth is stranger than fiction.

Lately though fiction is becoming truth.

This article dated 12 years ago.
Camp of the Saints is really happening now.
ATS posts more facts than tin foil conspiracies.
1984 knocked on our door with the Patriot Act and we welcomed them in.

What's the next piece of fiction due to become fact ?
