The Absurd Reason Why Kim Davis Is Being Touted For TIME's Person Of The Year

It looks like Kim Davis could become TIME's Person of the Year for 2015. It's important to note that the title isn't an award or isn't an honor and has gone to the likes of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin in the past. Person of the Year is the person who, for better or for worse, most influenced the events of the preceding year.

What do you think? Should it be Kim Davis?

Personally, I thought it would end up being Caitlyn Jenner. It needs to be somebody affiliated with the LGBT-rights movement being that the issue has been front and center this year as well as the increased polarization of liberals and conservatives over the issue. 2015 is the year that the culture war between the Christian Right and those who believe in liberty for all has climaxed to the point where it is nearing a breaking point.

I do/did not agree with her position on the matter but I'll give her credit for standing firm against criticism, ridicule, threats, etc.

Person of the Year should be; Ahmed the Clock Kid.

A bloody genius. Played the perfect scam, got the Leftist useful-idiots to rush to his supports, got loaded with freebies, and is now enjoying a Muslim lifestyle in Qatar; a country that oppresses Women, LGBT, and Minorities.

Donald Trump, IMO. He's turned the political industry on its ear and has taken a bold new approach to how candidates present themselves. He's gone from business to entertainment to politics. I don't even like him, I've never liked him but he's at least not afraid to try something new and not just go for the status quo. People are sick of charlatans and frauds and corruption and stupidity in politics. Love, like or hate him, its about time we begin challenging our leaders and start electing people who will at least try to pull DC's head out of its kiester.

I was just reading a story about a guy that wanted to get backstage to see his favorite band.....Quickly thinking he edited their wiki page to show him as one of the members step brother.....he shows it to the guy at the door.

The guy goes in and in a few minutes the band member sticks his head out, and say "welcome brother, come on in". They knew it was a scam but was so impressed they let him him.

Person of the year if you ask me.

Kim Davis was not the person who wielded, for better or for worse, the greatest influence over the events of the year; the only reason anyone outside of Rowan County, Kentucky knows who she is is as an effect of the Supreme Court gay marriage ruling. If you're going to name anyone in the gay marriage fight Person of the Year* it should be Anthony Kennedy.

*I wouldn't, since the gay marriage ruling was far from the most influential event of the year. The emergence of Donald Trump would be one of the events on my shortlist for that slot.

Of course, since this is the same magazine that named as the (I'm paraphrasing here) "person who for better or worse most influenced the events of the year" Rudy Giuliani in 2001 (OBL was the obvious choice), Mark Zuckerberg in 2010, Pope Francis in 2013, and the Ebola Fighters in 2014 (what did the last three do those years to shape world history anyway?) I'm not expecting much. Then again their choice of The Protester in 2011, Bernanke in 2009, Obama in 2008, and Putin in 2007 were good ones, so who knows?
