I would in a minute accept Sweden-like taxes for Sweden-like public benefits.

It wasn't supposed to.

Nobody ever expected Obamacare to cover all the uninsured. In fact, Congressional Budget Office projections made in 2013 suggested that about 10% of nonelderly U.S. residents would remain uncovered: some because they are undocumented immigrants, some because of the gap created by red-state Medicaid rejection and some because they would fall through the cracks of a complicated system. But the law was nonetheless projected to produce a sharp reduction in the number of Americans without insurance, and it has lived up to that expectation, especially in states like California that have tried to make it work.

Which political party has that as their platform? Which political party is running on taxing the middle class at the highest rate and adding a 25% VAT on top of that?

Neither. Not even the Dems. That's how you know all they 'say' they're for is just manipulative vote-gathering lip service. They have no intention of funding all those benefits like the other developed countries do, therefore we'll never have them. Why don't Dem voters ever ask them why?

Hmm, I don't remember Obama and the democrooks selling it to us that way.

But maybe I wasn't reading the "fine print."

Well you have a point but I think that it's going to happen eventually.

No absolutes, here.

ACA has caused more problems than it solved for some people and reduced or eliminated problems for some people.

Seems way too many people assumed all insurance was alike. Millions had healthcare insurance with one or more of the following characteristics:

Excluded hospitalization

Ridiculously low annual/ lifetime caps

High deductibles

Exclusions for pre existing conditions

High co- insurance fees

High or in some cases no out of pocket maximums.

Back when, Bush campaigned on the promice to create affordable healthcare insurance for low income earners.

Like all politicians, some promises are never kept. Healthcare insurance premiums increased 100% between 2000-2010.

Not too worry. Trump says he will repeal the ACA and replace it with something wonderful.

If you work for the MTA instead of paying about ~30% of your income in state/local/federal taxes you'd pay ~45% AND have a ~25% VAT on everything .....so basically take 40% of everything you have available post-tax for spending on stuff besides healthcare and figure out where you would cut back in return for coverage only slightly better than what you already get through your job.

Do you seriously realize how much of a hit you and your family would take from the policy you are advocating?

It won't happen because the progressives will never let European-style UHC happen. Ever.

Because that is for Americans uncharted territory and few are willing to pay the required taxes effectively on spec.
