There are plenty of reasons one might think he was not a particularly moral person, let alone a prophet. But this is not one of them. There are innumerable possible circumstances in which it is not only permissible but obligatory for a moral person to lie ("Are there any Jews in your attic?"--just to keep the issue at its most elementary.)
