NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Donald Trump's call for a 25% tariff on Chinese goods is winning him a lot of attention as he weighs a presidential run in 2012.
But Trump seems to be overlooking the consequences that his economic policy would likely trigger: a destructive trade war and higher prices, according to some experts.
The US owes China over a 'trillion dollars' Mr Trump. How are you going to repay that. Your stupid tariff idea will destroy all business transactions and relations with any foreign country.

It does exactly what he wants the idea to do, grabs him publicity to stroke his outsized ego.
We cannot continue to allow them to NOT accept goods from us. We allow them to ship almost anything here but China will not allow certain American made products into their country.
What is fair is fair and we need to balance the trade.
I believe if they want items we have such as corn and other items they need from us then we have a bargaining tool.
It is time we find ways to get back the being industrialized again. We need another industrial revolution in America to get our people working and to stop the screwing we are taking from many countries that do not trade with us even close to even.
Why Trump is getting so much attention is beyond me but then again I look at the rest of the GOP field and it makes sense. Trump makes a big production of China's currency manipulation but never mentions us. You know how Uncle Ben gets wild and crazy at the printing press and thus devaluing USD., I would bet he is a big fan of the FR and the banksters.
It is a good thing that economist were quoted in the article to straighten Trump out on some points like this one :

China could also respond by closing its increasingly important market to U.S. exporters, which would be a major blow to American jobs and manufacturing. China has become the No. 3 market for U.S. exporters, with sales jumping 31% from the previous year.
So you slap a tariff on them and they slam the door on all U S goods and what does that do for our manufacturing base? Do we risk losing our number 3 export market when we barely produce crap now. I am not educated and I could go on and on how dumb this idea is. It is nothing but a bunch of populist rhetoric to dupe only the very ignorant.

Just one more reason to be added to the many others already noted as to why Trump is unfit to lead this naton, he would NEVER get my vote.
