That article is, itself, an example of "settled science". It starts with the false conclusion that Liberals are opposed to industrialization. Then it provides evidence to back that assertion. It uses climate change research as an example of this assault on industry. The study or the planet's climate is NOT based on "Proving" the climate is getting warmer is based on observing the results of several centuries of injecting multi billion tons of CO2 into a fixed sized atmosphere. These observations have indicated that the atmosphere and oceans are getting warmer. Liberals do not oppose industrialization. They just want to slow down injecting CO2 into the atmosphere before we know what changes that will cause.
The other examples are more concerned with RW political correctness that actual science. Since Darwin proposed the idea that species, not individuals, adapted to changing environmental factors, the Religious Right, reacting to this insult to their assumption of an "Infallible God", have created political and religious opposition to the idea. it is as if the Fundamentalists were unable to wrap their mind around the idea that their God created a system that could adapt to changes instead of a fixed reality that would break is stressed to much by a changing reality. This need of fixes unchanging reality is more of a psychological that a scientific problem.
He then criticizes the claims by some of a peak in oil production. All of these claims were based on an unchanging research, exploration and recovery technologies and fixed prices. As the artificially set oil prices (mostly fixed to support Arabian economic needs) created artificial shortages and increasing oil prices the technology changed and previously unprofitable sources were discovered and exploited. Interestingly this is an example of scientific, technological and economic evolution adapting to changing conditions. Now that Arabia is flooding the world with oil in order to drop prices to prevent the Persians from making any profit the exploration and even the exploitation of these expensive oil sources has almost ceased. Another example of the system adapting to changing conditions.
Spot on. "Settled Science" claims are right up there with other phrases to stifle discussion and debate such as "racist", "income equality" and "war on women".
Today, our leaders use sound bites such as "the science is settled", and "war on women" to lead the people rather than engage in debate. It's the equivalent of using "if the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit" to determine a person's guilt or innocence.

The most problematic false conclusion we are dealing with is the idea that liberals are opposed to industrialization when we haven`t seen liberals in this country since hippies populated the landscape.
The opposition to industrialization comes from statists who misrepresent themselves as liberals.
Of course the difference between a hippie (a true liberal) and a statist is the statist' love for all things government.
The statist' opposition to industrialization isn`t rooted in concern for the environment, though that is the reason they will offer.
No, statist' objections to industrial growth have to do with the relative importance of the state in our lives and the relative independence from the state that industrialization provides to ordinary working Americans.
Nationalization of major industries makes statists very happy, but heavy regulation, the "Mother, may I?" model, is also very appealing.
Wow, it's amazing what people find in an article that isn't there. No wonder we are in the mess we're in.
