During the last Super Bowl Beyonce performed a choreography making direct references to the Black Panthers, a Black nationalist group regarded by many as a hate organization.
Recently a video showing former Pantera's lead singer Phil Anselmo making nazi gestures was received with outrage and he was prompted to publish an apologetic video. Isn't this a blatant case of double standards?

Just as a point of clarification the Black Panther Party was not a nationalist organization in any sense of the word nor was it a hate group, unless you count their hatred of the police. The BPP worked with a number of white left wing "revolutionary" organizations (see Bobby Seale, SDS and the Chicago 7), never promoted the establishment of a black state, a movement back to Africa or the superiority of African Americans over any other race.
The BPP was a self-describe self-defense organization intent on protection the African American community against police abuse and advanced self-help social programs in the black community which included a free lunch program and health clinics. In short they part Hamas (local social services) and Black Lives Matter with guns. Sort of a Oregon Patriot Network for the black community except they were actually willing to confront the state in a number of gun fights.
All the above is the reason why remaining members of the BPP leadership disavowed any relationship with the New Black Panther Party which they do consider to be a hate group.
Trivia: It is alleged that the BPP was the reason for the establishment of the country LAPD's SWAT Team the first in the nation.
Sorry.
And yes Beyonce performed in a BPP costume motif which was quite appropriate if you are familiar with the lyrics of Formation which she preformed during the half time show.
PPS: Please don't concern yourself with the Boycott Beyonce idea because Bey's got too much money and too much clout in the music industry to care.

Well there we have it, a black person(s) objects to what another black person(s) and we automatically have a point of validation from which non-black people can assert as being authoritative.

Obviously he does when you're insinuating that because one black man believes something (that of course YOU must agree with...that's a prerequisite), then the rest of us should follow suit.
Like the poster said, the Black Panthers aren't a hate group nor a nationalist group.
I never have a problem with someone's opinion. Opinions are like a certain body part, some smell worse than others. How they smell is totally up to the sniffer.
I knew some ex Black Panthers the original organization were not a hate group I think Wino summed it up better than I could in his description of the organization. Now the New Black Party on the other hand is a whole different story their not the same in anyway shape or form. Infact alot of ex members of the original party have openly spoke out against the nbpp and do not condone the ideals of the nbpp. Personally I feel like Beyoncé was just trying to stir the pot and have people talking about it, which as this thread shows has worked.
