The state of Kentucky I now being punished for electing Bevin, I agree with PP, this is a waste of money I hope the judge holds the state responsible for legal fees.

Quote:
Accusing the administration of Gov. Matt Bevin of a "jaw-dropping display of authoritarian hypocrisy," a lawyer for Planned Parenthood is asking a judge to dismiss a lawsuit that Bevin's general counsel filed last month alleging the organization was operating an unlicensed abortion facility.
The Bevin administration changed the rules for abortion clinics, made up new ones, and failed to follow well-established state law and regulations when it filed the lawsuit against Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, according to the motion filed Tuesday in Jefferson Circuit Court.

"The court should spare the system, the taxpayers and the women of Kentucky the burden of staging this political stunt," said the motion filed by lawyer Thomas Clay, who represents Planned Parenthood.

Too complicated and not enough info to make a definitive statement...

It does appear that this applies to all clinics so there is that. Seems to me that if new laws were put in place that a clinic has to get adequate time to meet them. It seems the clinic is working to do that.

Sure looks like the prior administration had no issue with the clinic, why the concern about pretty close to nonexistent emergencies, although they will need to eventually comply.

Rather a catch 22 to require them to be operating to get licensure and then sue them because they don't have a license.

Quote:
Last November, according to the complaint, PPINK submitted a license application for a clinic in Louisville. On Dec. 1, in response to a request for information from Planned Parenthood, then-Cabinet Inspector General Maryellen Mynear said that “a facility must be performing services for which it seeks licensure so that the survey [inspection] process may fully evaluate compliance with applicable regulations.”

In other words: Abortions had to be taking place before the state inspection. Mynear confirmed that this was “indeed the process by which OIG [Office of Inspector General] has historically issued licenses.”

They should be shut down until compliant. This is no different than a restaurant that is violating heath codes.

That's not how new codes work......generally even, current businesses are grandfathered. You cant pass a law that states that a restaurant must have handicap access and then go close them down the next week. They have to be granted time to bring things up to code.

Even a business that fails an inspection are generally granted time to fix them before being shut down.

It appears the clinic is working to become compliant. I am pro-life but laws are laws and I support the idea that the government must be fair in their treatment of others.

Another case of insecure men trying to remain in control of all women. They cannot tolerate the idea of a woman that does not want to have THEIR baby has an alternative that is affordable and safe. Good for the women and the boys can go back to sucking their thumbs.

The code that they are required to comply with is questionable to begin with but they will comply overtime, in the mean time PP has halted abortions at it's clinics so these women are being inconvenienced by their elected representatives.

Typical Republicans, they want less government until they want more government.

Could one note the opposite? Want more regulations until you don't want more regulations?
