It's part of NATO forces showing a presence in the region as a result of Russians flexing their muscle to see what they can move into, as they in Crimea recently.
Russia would like to retake the Baltic states - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The Bear has been pawing at the ground around there.
We don't have enough support there, but it's good that there is some. At least we're not being wimps and p.c. and kowtowing to them.
Well whatever Russia's intent, it is none of our concern and hugely hypocritical since we occupy countries all over the globe.

None of our concern? Are we not still members of NATO, and is it not in force?
I understand your point and in many ways it is valid (though perhaps not realistic in today's world). I don't know if we can be isolationist, if that is what you are suggesting.
So we make those (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) countries part of NATO. After that we could welcome Russia as we all share a common enemy in the form of China and India as well as ISIS.
We could call it the OWWO (the One White World Organization) tasked to protect us from all the brown, black and yellow people of the world.
I have not heard of any buzzing by recently from US forces, but I guess that does not mean it does not happen, but I am sure it would have been on the media somewhere.
We play it much safer now days than before.

Flexing muscle for either side is just BS. Merely flying some planes and cruising tanks around is not doing anything other than wasting money. Everyone knows this, it is just the powers to be on both sides have interests in keeping this little game going. Russia and the US are great reasons to justify military spending, and the powers to influence are looking to capitalize on this after their gov careers.
Russia has absolutely zero interest in taking the Baltic states, I have no idea why you or anyone keeps stating this.
Everyone knows the numerous border disputes throughout the former USSR are a result of not solving the border issues when the USSR dissolved. The borders were drawn for the purpose of the USSR, not for the populations of those areas. Little concern was given during the USSR, just as no one is really concerned about state borders in the US, whereas if the US fell apart, there would be concerns and even conflicts over the borders. Everyone was so concerned about the USSR dissolving that they gave little to no heed to the border issue, and just as in the ME and and Africa, hoped it would just solve itself peacefully.

They are already part of NATO. That's why we are there. I don't know why you have to be flip about it and bring race into it.

They most certainly do have an interest, if they could take it stealthily at least for starters, they would.

its your view that is unrealistic and the year is irrelevant ("today's world").
It's not "isolationist" it's called minding our own business.
If you don't just walk onto your neighbors property are you in isolation?
We should not be in NATO, period, and should simply withdraw. Please show where participation in such treaties is authorized within our own constitution.
How is a potential war with Russia over real estate on the other side of the globe in the best interest of Americans?

History of what? The Baltic states?
They have no interest besides a few extremist whackos, which those types exist everywhere, even in the US.
The Baltics were part of the Russian Empire as a win during the constant conflicts between Sweden, Poland, and Russia (among others) (maybe Sweden and Poland wants the Baltics back? Read up the history).
Gained independence due to the Russian Revolution, and the USSR annexed them later on, then they gained independence again after the USSR.
So...what history specifically points that Russia wants to annex the Baltic states? Maybe Georgia wants to since it was Stalin who did it first. Maybe Sweden wants its territory back. Maybe Poland wishes to claim its territory?
How stealthily would Russia take the Baltics and most importantly, why? Those states offer no strategic advantage, nor are they even historically significant to Russia.
Exactly. Don't bait the bear and you won't get bit.
In this case the bear is messing with the Wolverine. That particular ship can simultaneously target something like 100 planes out to about 60 miles. It's an anti everything ship.
