I don't think the efforts to keep people from voting will work so well from now on. Perhaps it would be better for Repubs to think about expanding their base of support instead of trying so hard to keep it constrained.
Yes, they sit in little rooms and plan these obstructionist things (not that the things they are doing are even very effective) with glee, not realizing that they are turning off many people to voting Republican. Then they wonder in amazement why the very groups they are targeting won't vote for them. A classic example of a Pyrrhic victory.
In 2010 Colorado senate race, 5,000 illegals were caught voting for democrats.
This was only in Denver and probably thousands more happened statewide. Many illegals have been caught voting in other states. That in itsself is enough to warrant voter ID -- no wonder democrats keep fighting voter Id laws....

I'm not concerned about turning off illegal voters, about 70% of the population supports voter ID.
It's no secret liberals don't want voter ID for this simple reason. It makes it harder for them to get away with voter fraud. That's clear and simple and true.
Actually, most of us liberals are fine with voter ID cards, and think that everyone should be able to vote as a national right. And we're embarrassed by the maze of election districts.
The official count and unofficial counts in Florida for 2000 has Bush ahead of Gore anywhere from about 70 to 180.
That whole election in Florida was a fiasco. I'm not sure at all who really won. And I would submit that the whole chad process was a much bigger problem than voter IDs in that election in Florida.
Here is the explanation: He has to make reasonable assumptions because he simply does not have the resources available to him to make exact determinations. You keep saying this or that cannot be proven but every where you look the means to prove it is blocked.
I'm saying his claim that 5,000 illegals had voted is BS and when he was called on the carpet he walked it back. I posted the link and it's not from a 'liberal' website. Once again it proves that this voter ID hysteria is nothing more than a solution in search of a problem.
that is absolutely false, and when the person who made that claim was called upon to explain it he said:
(and he can't prove that any of the 106 voted duh)
Actually your article says they really can't tell.
Also (quote)
" By comparing the two databases, Gessler’s office discovered 11,805 were non-citizens at the time they obtained their license and then registered to vote at a later date. The number did not include applicants who provided another state driver’s license as proof of legal status. Records showed that almost 42 percent of those non-citizens registered to vote, actually cast ballots in the 2010 election."
42% of the immigrants that registered to vote, actually cast ballots. That's 42% of 11,805 non-citizens isn't it?. You are correct that it probably wasn't enough to influence the vote, but many states have caught illegals voting. We are supposed to be a nation of laws. Voter ID sends a message to the illegals that they are not welcome to participate in electing our politicians.
