Yep, good ol' neoliberalism at work there. The laborers get screwed, but is sure is profitable.

The issue runs deep too. It's why the message of stopping illegal immigration is so appealing to so many people. Illegal immigrants to take our jobs, but there's a reason. And it's not because the illegal immigrants are bad people.

Let's start with NAFTA. To get right to the point, American farmers (primarily in my home state of Iowa) had a massive surplus of corn once capitalism essentially took over the agricultural sector, which was one mostly family owned. It allowed for an increase of efficiency, but the surplus was problematic. If it couldn't be sold, it would become a net loss. Some of that surplus did go to ethanol research and of course a huge portion when to feeding live stock (some 70% of all corn produced goes to livestock). But there was still too much and there needed to be a way to ensure that the surplus of corn didn't result in a net loss, since many politicians depends on lobbyists and grain gets huge amounts of subsidies.

NAFTA allowed that corn to be dropped elsewhere easily without being a financial burden. Most of it went to Mexico. The problem is that Mexico's agriculture is largely corn based. By no means was Mexico's economy booming, or even thriving, but it was functional. There were thousands of small, family owned farms dedicated to growing corn which would be sold at their local markets. However, the American corn was dumped into these markets and was able to be sold for much cheaper since it was grown more efficiently and there was more of it. Now, thousands of Mexican farmers have no way to make a living becasue they cannot compete. Some found different work in Mexico, but there just wasn't enough available to bring in all the displaced farmers.

But, there was opportunity elsewhere. So they immigrated, some legally, but they couldn't all legally get in. There are limitations to how many immigrants will be taken. But, that's ok, they can come illegally. This is why much of America's field labor is done by immigrants, a huge portion of which are illegal. Because they are illegal, and have fewer options, they can be paid less and work in horrid conditions (which increases profits) and can't do anything to change that because if they go to any authority, they will be deported. Since they have fewer options, this exploitation persists.

This obviously is a hugely negative impact for American workers. Field labor is no longer an option. Some would say that American's wouldn't want these awful working conditions, but American workers would be able to unionize or get governmetn support for regulatory standards, assuming the lobbyists don't block them, which is a luxury immigrants don't necessarily have.

And that's just the issue that comes from NAFTA. There are so many more problems, and neither Republicans or Democrats are willing to do anything that will sufficiently address this problem of exploiting labor forces.

Hillary was heavily in favor of TranPacific Agreement which is NAFTA for Asia but she recently changed her mind just for the election. I'm sure if she gets elected she will switch again. She's an outright liar.
