That's just crazy. Women bring their sons this age into the bathroom all the time without issue.
I love that the daddies of our generation are more involved in raising their children now and do things like take their kids to the bathroom - unlike several of the older posters on the article who suggested finding "a nice lady" to take the girl into the ladies room for them. Ridiculous! Maybe mens' bathrooms will need to be redesigned going forward, though, to make this more comfortable for everyone. Many places have already started adding changing tables to the mens' rooms, not just the ladies rooms. Perhaps having the urinals set in a more private spot would make it more comfortable for some, too.
If we could press the reset button on society, that'd be great.
This didn't use to be an issue. And now it is. And laws like North Carolina's HB2 have made it an issue.
If that story really is as Adams says, I would have shot the other man. Someone beating the heck out of me in a restroom--I'm fighting in defense of both myself and my children at that point.
I never sent my children into a restroom alone, nor would I have asked a strange woman to accompany my daughter into a restroom when she was small...there are women who molest children too, these days. I took my daughter into the men's room when necessary, and would not have hesitated in a major store with enclosed stalls like Walmart.
It said he had a "curt response" before the attack... I wonder why the news won't exactly publish what he said... apparently the response was significant enough for the police to not know whether to charge the assault or not...
When I was four or five years old, if I was with my mom, then my mom took me to ladies' room obviously, but if I was with my dad, my grandpa, or my brothers, they sent me to ladies room, but they waited for me outside. I was born in year 1985. =) They always chose the single-user restrooms. There were many of them out there.
I don't understand why this man was attacked. If he wanted to take his daughter to men's restroom, as long as he made sure the daughter was safe, I see no issues.

I would have responded with quite a bit more than a "curt response". People are too on edge these days but need to mind their own business.
