The vote was 78-23, it was a democrat controlled congress. Please spare me the "liberals are anti war" bull**** because you aren't. As long as you say your prayers to government you'll be okay, right?
Were you for or against the war in Iraq?
Answer: you were for it.
Therefore, you wanted to impose on Iraq the things you don't want imposed on yourself.

A congress who was lied to. I blame Cheney for it not Bush. Saddam kept his people under control until we went in...killed him and distablized that country. And then it was just a domino effect for others in the middle east.
The most preposterous idea is that a fictional entity created by man, "government", has "rights" that no man has. That man is a slave of a fictional entity. That man is subject to the will of a fictional entity. That he can be robbed, extorted, coerced, abused, forced into involuntary servitude, have any of his natural human rights stripped, and killed by a fictional entity. "Government" claims a "right" to enslave man, without his consent. "Government" claims to have an exclusive fictional "right" to use aggression and initiations of force upon man. "Government" claims to have a "right" to impose its personal interests and beliefs upon man with aggression.
And yet we are to believe that this "government" "serves" us??? Is this the same "service" that we receive when a gang robs, rapes, or enslaves us against our will at gunpoint?
And yet we are to believe that this "government" protects us??? Is this the same "protection" we get from the mafia when we pay them not to destroy our business, burn down our home, break our legs, or shoot us?
And yet we are to believe that "government" creates civilization and society??? Is this the same "civilization" and "society" that operates only by aggression, violence, and coercion upon individuals. Institutionalized and widespread aggression, violence, and coercion are hardly ingredients of what any sane person would say create society or civilization.
The State, in all of its forms, is, and has always been, the greatest enemy of man. It is what fills mass graves, creates slavery, creates deprivation, creates misery. It is always the source of widespread human bondage and human depravity. It is always the destroyer of human freedom.
But this does not have to be the case.
A government that serves only as a retaliatory force against those who initiate force can maximize human freedom for every human being. For all evil, has at its source, one who initiates force upon another. Just as no man should ever impose his will upon another through force, the fictional creation of man should also never impose its will upon another through force. The man who does so is evil and any government that does so is evil.
The non-aggression principle is the key. Both for man...and for the "governments" he creates if there is ever to be any chance for man to ever live in a free, voluntary, and peaceful civilization or society.
Government, enemy of all humanity. The founders had one major flaw, they wrote a document that created the very thing they just unshackled themselves from. Government. Whether left or right, religious or not, this country has one God and only one God. That God is called government.
End government and you end most of humanities problems...
I hear Somalia and the Republic of the Congo are lovely this time of year.

End government and you have a bunch of naked illiterates swinging from trees. Sounds like a right winger's wet dream.
Everything you take for granted and couldn't ever create yourself is the product of a civilized society that would not work without some form of government.
why dont you READ the constitution, it was created precisely to tell what the job of the federal government is, including a division of powers, and the first ten amendments telling what the federal government is NOT allowed to do, in fact they also cover the states as well. and note that the tenth amendment states essentially that the powers not given to the federal government by the people or the states, are reserved for those entities and not the feds. the federal government was designed to be weak compared to the states. and the president is not a dictator, though some run the office like they think they are dictators.
and you can tell the difference. if the president of this country were to give a citizen an order, the citizen can tell the president to go pound sand, and nothing can be done to the citizen. on the other hand in a dictatorship, such as north korea, if the dear leader gives a subject an order, and the subject tells dear leader to go pound sand, the citizen can be locked up for as long a dear leader wants.
I was ordered to purchase health insurance.
It doesn't really matter if I tell them to pound sand or not because they take money out of my check every week, and if I'm a good boy, they'll let me have some of it back.
The restrictions placed on the federal government by the Constitution don't really matter if the office holders subject to them simply ignore them.
