Is there not a task force of independent specialists who can investigate these types of situations and expose corrupt police departments? If not, there needs to be.
There are but this is how the so called investigation works.
Innocent until proven guilty for cops so it starts with innocent and mostly ends up as innocent.
Guilty until proven innocent for civilians so it starts with guilty and mostly ends up as guilty.
That's why an accused officer gets paid vacation while an accused civilian stays in custody.
System is rigged.
It's true that cops deal with danger and that's why they get so much privilege when they use force but the same privilege also gives them bullying power and protection.
You can kill an innocent civilian and get away by saying "Oops, I thought he had a gun".

Not only cops get away from going to prison, most keep their job even if city/PD pays millions to victim's family.
Their internal disciplinary action is pathetic and nothing more than few missed promotion dates.

Same crime for a civilian would land him in jail for life.

I hope the courts take the appropriate measures, it'd be a shame for the deceased's family to suffer doubly by losing another thru vengeance.

Funny how that you rarely hear about a civilian CCW involved in a illegal shoot compared more and more to cops, not that it happens THAT often with cops either. BUT when a illegal shooting happens with a licensed civilian carrier the anti gun people jump on it as proof that civilians should not be allowed to carry and disarming civilians and they blame all civilian gun owners but if a cop does it they are silent, no calls to disarm all police while they continue to claim that only the police and military are trained enough to carry a weapon.

We can hope but we all know that the cop will get a slap on the wrist.
Bad boy, don't do it again.
I'm sure there will be some violent family members who'll take on bad cops sooner or later.
Remember two cops shot dead in NY last year?
It was bad because the cops were not the one who shot black guy but if someone unrelated can kill cop because they were angry, why can't relatives do the same?
It's just the matter of time, tick tock tick tock.
The only way to prevent is if the PD/city punishes bad cops harshly and gains public trust.
Right now, it's civilians vs Pig Department and PD always seems to protect dirty pigs.
There are good cops but their gang like behavior when it comes to protecting bad ones makes all of them look against civilians.

Well there goes that old "compliance" excuse. This one also throws out that "prior criminal convictions" excuse. Basically it shows that if you're black then the 2nd amendment doesn't apply to you. You're risking your life just for having a concealed carry permit. There shouldn't be any apologists for this case and I'm glad the girlfriend was able to record it.

Even with videos, the result is same except few days/weeks of public anger.
Before the videos, cops made stories and case closed, they go back to doing the same thing.
After the videos, there are case against the cops, most dropped, some go to court, acquitted, they go back to doing the same thing.
End result is still the same so videos don't change much.
What needs to change is on the cops' side.
They need to value citizen's life more than just being a scared chicken all the time.
They don't want to take any risk once they imagine things from their side.
They know system is on their side so don't hesitate at all to use excessive and deadly force.

This incident is bad in so many ways.
It was broad daylight.
Car was occupied with female and child.
The guy talked to cop about his CC license.
The guy was not the driver, but a passenger.
Still he ended dead.
The cop not only shot once but he made sure the guy is dead as if he was shooting an active shooter. Thankfully, none went through and hit the child.
Horrible!
What a pig!

If some regular guy tries to shoot your family member, you can shoot and kill that shooter.
Hope someone does the same with bad cops sometimes when they simply come and kill your loved ones.
I was having a very difficult time working, after watching the video. I can only think about the little baby girl who could have been hit by the bullets.

It was especially violent and criminal for the cop to shoot the man, and not call the paramedics or allow his girlfriend to provide any aid. Let's be honest, we know that he wanted to kill her as well, if she made one move to assist him. This is just so evil. What is wrong with these animals???

With him not being a career criminal and also complying with everything the cop said yet still being shot down, I guess that's the only thing people can think of to take blame away from the cop, as silly as it sounds. I'd be dead already if cops shot people for not already having their paperwork out by the time he got to the car. Plus sometimes they immediately approach the vehicle after pulling you over.

Not sure about compliance. When he reached in his pocket will be key in this case if the cop told him to stop.

The girlfriend is talking a lot to reporters now, maybe not the best thing to do, it helps the other side to put together a defense. She said he told the cop he had a gun AS he was reaching for his wallet. The girlfriend said SHE was the one that said he had a permit right at that time. It looks bad, she should be quiet. It seems the guy reached down while saying I have a gun to the cop. Not good.

This shows there is a serious policing problem in America. The lady don't just assumed he is black so he is a gangster. This kinda behavior needs to be dealt with or we will continue to have more shootings
