I think some people don't think that professors are real jobs because of the tenure thing and half the time the aides are teaching their classes, things like that give professors a bad reputation.
I was taught mostly by professors. And they were also doing research & publishing studies. Easy job? Hell no. You couldn't pay me enough to be a teacher or professor. I believe people who are scornful of teaching are the ones who failed at being students. And no, I don't mean you personally.
Yet so many Conservatives are denied speaking at colleges and universities, and when they are allowed are booed off the stage, YET, the MOST LIBERAL people are welcomed with opened arms.
Or, at least that's what it seems to be? Is there a cause or reason for it?
The deliberate dumbing down of America, planned as far back as the 1930's was revealed in the documents attained from the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations, under the congressional investigation by the Reese Committee in the 1950's, whose goal was to investigate possible anti-american activities of non-profit foundations.
The plan, outlined in the documents called for a complete rewriting of American history, beginning at the university level first, to then train the next several generations of "teachers" to indoctrinate the entire US populace with socialism ... to prepare the American people for a merging of ideology with the Soviet Union.
As bat crap crazy as that sounds ... please save the childish comments ... and just do your own fact checking. I've given you everything you need to start to re-educate yourselves.

2) Academia is inherently a theoretical endeavor. In my experience, leftists tend to prefer the theoretical to the practical. Most of what is produced by academia results in little to no actual value, but for the left, all that matters is intent.
Seriously? This is not true at all. Think about where modern medicine would be without germ theory, or how we'd have developed lasers, computer monitors or atomic energy (or any number of other inventions we take for granted) without studying theoretical physics, or whether we'd have ever discovered DNA and all of the applications that knowledge has led to without theoretical work in biology, etc.
