Yep and we compromised on a lot to get things done -- Dodd-Frank, tax cuts, debt ceilings, etc. Over the last 8 years, Congress' inability to do they're job has gotten worse the more Republicans have gained power. They can't even get their own side to agree long enough to get their own agenda to Obama.

What I actually said is that illegal immigration is a huge problem and sanctuary cities make it worse - by not enforcing our ALREADY EXISTING immigration laws. should we just pretend that we have no borders? why don't we just ask Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, etc to start paying US taxes. We're educating 1/2 of Latin America anyway - and providing unlimited free healthcare via ER's. They might as well help pay for it.
If you're saying to enforce existing law, then you are saying to deport all undocumented immigrants. That's the current law.

Because, it is now an ideological battle.......the 2 sides have VASTLY different visions for what the country should be and become.

I wonder if the GOP going anti gay marriage and LBGT rights was to ensure support from ignorant religious people. Honestly, if you want more votes you would pander to as many people as possible, it worked wonders for the Democrats up to this point. Trump could of used this to his advantage, it could **** off his more extreme voter base, but he'd gain much more support and more people who are reluctant to vote for Hilary would reconsider.

Honestly, it's not the end of the world when gays get married or transgenders can use whatever bathroom they want. People offended by this need to get a life, there are far more life threatening things happening in the world that need to be addressed. So tired of hearing "but God says..." which is just them trying to justify being offended by nothing.

Thing is, they're out for votes... it's all about that divide. People want to believe this us vs them mentality and both parties are guilty of this, and until we can admit this there will never be progress. There has to be compromise and sacrifice if we are to grow and prosper as a nation.

at least for a few years.

GOP, leave the abortion issue alone, Dems, start admitting we have a terrible illegal immigration problem and sanctuary cities are only making the problem worse.

didn't we all learn how to compromise in kindergarten?
The moderates have all been voted out. So instead of republicans and democrats we now have liberals and conservatives. With republicans and dems...they just drank and smoked cigars and worked it out. Now the entire country is held hostage and suffering because they can't work together. And they never will until we have moderates back in charge. But that is unlikely.

Fortunately few people agree with you. You are right, you don't know.
