Big Government efforts to redistribute income are not only immoral, they don't work.
------------------
Income inequality is widely used to castigate capitalism, decry free markets, and justify redistributive policies. Yet there's overwhelming evidence that the main causes of increasing economic inequality in America is not what you might think. According to studies:
• 41% of the economic inequality created between 1976-2000 was the result of the increase in single-parent households. [1]
Odd you stopped at the year 2000 isn't it? Yes, what you point out is a problem. It doesn't excuse other more recent reasons for income inequality.
If you can come up with a decent solution to the problem posted here, post it. There are solutions to the more recent actions that have caused inequality to rise to record rates.
Let's talk turkey. The illegitimacy rate among blacks is just shy of 75%. For whites, it's 30%-- more than double what it was for blacks just a few decades ago. That, more often than not (let's chuck the exceptions that naysayers love to bring up) results in single-parent homes in which Uncle Sam is the babby daddy.

The surest route to poverty is illegitimacy.
However, the government encourages "single parent households." I put this in quotes because many parents are living together without the marriage certificate because the govt benefits will decrease significantly. I have several within my family that live together as a couple, say they are married, however they are not, that reap the benefits that goes with the "single mom" income, or lack thereof, all while baby daddy is bringing in his income... off the record of course. BTW, my family is white.
The rate of single parent households has nearly doubled over the past 50 years.
1/3 of children are being raised in homes without fathers.
41% of babies are born outside marriage.
This is a global trend.
67% of babies born in Iceland are born to single mothers. Multiple children tend to have multiple absent fathers. The country has not gone to hell in a handbasket.
No, it isn't odd. The Princeton study was done in 2004.
The trend toward more single parent households has not abated so I suspect a current study would show similar results.
The statistics are stunning and no politician is trying to do anything to reverse the trend. Some have proposed bandaid solutions (taxpayer funded child care, etc) but NOBODY is addressing the root causes.

Another is just living together without re-marrying so the original stiff gets to continue paying CS AND alimony.
Iceland kicked out the predatory banks, and GAVE everyone who had a house
on mortgage a completely paid off mortgage BY LAW.
It's not about marriage. It's about stopping greed from ruining the world.
