I didn't know the Christmas/ Winter break WAS in February.

It is usually, all as far s I can remember, from Christmas Eve to the day after Jan 1st.

"When the dust settles and everybody agrees on a name, "

THAT is the WHOLE pint.

Many want to get rid of ANYTHING related to God and Christianity from ALL public communications.

If you DON'T care, Don't participate in this type of discussion.
That was in response to a statement that cold weather doesnt require it's own break, which was inaccurate.

I am chiming in when I have something relevant to add to the conversation.

How you must have suffered.

It seems that no one noticed that even though Christmas is on Sunday, the break has been extended so that 1/2 becomes the paid replacement day and the schools re-open on Tuesday 1/3.

Also if people look at Government/Public Sector calendars, Monday December 26 is used in lieu for Christmas day for them to be closed.

Buy stuff made in China, get together with people we barely tolerate, booze up on NYE.

Maybe they can take all the designated religious days off and just call them Superstition days 1-12 or something?

Not once have I had class during Christmas or even Christmas Eve. Winter break always started just before Christmas Eve.

However, we never had breaks for any Jewish or Muslim holidays (unless they happened to fall within the holiday breaks designed around Christian holidays).

Maybe things have changed since I was in school (in my mid 20s now, so university wasn't too long ago), but if not...what more do you want? Bible Study Day?

Pull your kids out of public school and put them in private/Catholic. It's a no brainer, the public education system is completely broken.

Yeah, broken, just broken because of winter break. The sky is falling, it's the end of the world people. Cozy up in your bunker, this is gonna be a bad one.

This thread is based on NY. Across the border in NJ numerous counties don't get off for Jewish or Muslim holidays either. NYC/NYS should not be used for a reality that does not exist for most of the US.
