OK lets go with the assumption Trump loses. A not unreasonable thought at this point. 1 term presidents are rare, but Lets be honest-despite looking like she will win, Clinton is incredibly unpopular. Possibly the most unpopular winning presidential candidate ever.
Who do you think could beat her in 2020, and why?
And...this isnt just open to Republicans, could she be primaries, or would the DNC block that idea?
Susana Martinez. Sad thing is, I don't know if she could win a Republican primary. But she would be a terrific, moderate Republican general election candidate. I could see voting for her (I am a Democrat.)
No conservative candidate at the PotUS level will ever receive enough votes to be elected. It's over.
Further, the DNC and Hillary are basically synonymous. There will be no challengers.
Thread title should be corrected to "It's time to talk 2024."
I disagree. Trump isn't a conservative. Romney was, but he faced Obama who had the advantage of incumbency. McCain was conservative, but Bush's approval rating was so low that he never had a chance.
Legal immigrants in mass numbers that overwhelmingly vote Democrat
The only way for Republicans to win is that the Democrat voters bleed into the Republican party at a higher rate than citizens being naturalized.
I am a legal immigrant to US who started as a Democrat and now a Republican. There needs to be millions more like me for Republicans to stand a chance.

Yes, but these were in the past. Conservative voters are dying. Left voters are being created every day. I think we're looking at essentially a one-party system for the Executive Branch. Conservatives will still receive enough votes to win in more localized elections (including US Senate and House) for another decade or two.

Normally I'd say her being a democrat in the past would kill her chances...but Trump was one too at one point.
