They deal in insinuation (“A lot of people are saying...” is one of Mr Trump’s favourite phrases) and question the provenance, rather than accuracy, of anything that goes against them (“They would say that, wouldn’t they?”). And when the distance between what feels true and what the facts say grows too great, it can always be bridged with a handy conspiracy theory.
That Fox (and the right-wing in general) reports fake stories is not really news, but here is a detailed recount of how an obviously fake story made it to the right-wing media and then eventually the brain dead posters on this forum picked it up and started posting it here.
If you ask a typical right-winger, chances are he/she truly thought this fake story is real, together with all the other fake stories within their conservative circle.
