Yes, I know they are letting people know they are angry and upset -- and, newsflash, we already know that -- but do they think that as a result of these protests, someone (Obama maybe?) is going to declare the election null and void and say, "Okay, since you are so unhappy, we have decided to have a do-over." Yeah, like that is going to happen.

When I was young, I protested the Vietnam War with the hope that if enough people protested, that war would end. When black protesters and white supporters marched in the 60's, it was with the hope that this would help equal rights become a reality. (Ditto for LGBT marchers later on.) ALL of these protests were effective to at least some degree.

So, I will repeat my question: What exactly do the protesters hope to accomplish?

(Btw, I live in Colorado and voted for Johnson, and I am very proud and glad I did so.)
The ones I saw on the news last night here in LA when they panned the crowd were laughing and smiling and mugging for the camera.

Hardly angry huh? While there are some who are angry, many are just going out to be seen.

You gave some great examples. There really is no point to this.

But remember we now have a generation or two who never heard "no", never lost a game(there are no losers) and if you want something than you're entitled to it. Look at "Go Fund Me", I remember seeing a story about some elementary school kids who were being praised for starting a GFM page to pay for their trip to DC.

How about you try and earn some of the money?

So when you have people who never hear "no" they don't get why things don't always go their way.

Their parents didn't do them any favors.

I think you miss the point.

Trump will be the next president, but winning the popular vote has no bearing on that.

Yep.

I truly think that the reason this nation is so divided now is not so much because of race and racism as it is a matter of (1) those who live in the cities vs. those who don't, and (2) those whose great-grandparents (or most of them, anyway) were born here vs. those who are first and sometimes second or even third generation Americans. Of course, racism (on the part of whites AND blacks) does play a part, but as SO many white people have said, they would much rather live next to respectable law-abiding blacks than to "trashy" whites. (Quite a change from 100 years ago when many whites thought that just being white made them superior to those who weren't!)

Regarding immigrants, the biggest difference between then and now, I think, is that immigrants who came to this country more than 100 years ago were eager to adopt the ways of their newly adopted country (while still honoring the traditions and culture of their native country, also), and many -- but certainly not all! -- of the recent arrivals seem to be saying, "We're here -- now YOU must adapt to US." I think that is what upsets many Trump supporters.

Just my opinion, of course.

The real question is whether these people will attend the roadside vigils for racial justice regularly during these four years. Will the regularly talk to their acquaintances about the harm people they know have experienced under the current system? Will they stand up at town meetings, school board meetings, etc., and represent for these views, even knowing that currently the power is in the hands of those who hold opposing views.

Some of them might be God's angels in disguise, and as citizens of Heaven were not able to vote in the US Election.

There is no magic to know today what happened (past tense) to the US debt during President Trump's term in office. He hasn't taken office yet. We haven't seen what the four years will bring. So your insinuation that Trump wouldn't have doubled (again, past tense) the US debt after just four years in office is without any merit whatsoever. You don't know. I don't know. No one knows. And the best guesses are that he's going to do worse than any POTUS ever, with regard to ballooning the debt. So just sit back and wait and see, rather than crowing before it is the appropriate time.
Why don't you just keep your mouth shut and come back in four years.

Just so everyone knows, the above was sarcasm.

I received several rep points on that comment, so I'm wondering if any were from grumpy old men who thought I was serious.

So,

I look out my front door here in Charlotte, North Carolina, a battle ground state where Trump won.

It's completely safe, there are no idiot protestors, I often leave my door unlocked.

This says it all.

Of course they are protesting democracy. Obama and Clinton are trying to implement a command and control style government. The liberal teachers unions have indoctrinated and brainwashed these young people as children to believe that the government is there to tell them what to do and provide everything for them. The don't want liberty because personal liberty requires hard work to reap any reward, much easier to just take what a democrat/socialist government is willing to give you apparently. I can do better than that myself which is why I never vote democrat anymore. Actual life experience has taught me that the teachers and professors are mostly wrong.

Bunch of a whiny little, entitled maggots
Think of this way.

I for one gave Mr. Obama a chance on his 1st Term. As time went on his polices did not have the out come the Administration and the super Majority of the Dem. controlled Congress.

The Trump administration has good opportunity to right the ship.

The problem I many do not want to work because hey like Gov. asst. Many of the problems are Obama 's lake of results and Liberals are making Trump the new evil to blame someone else!

Wasn't Charlotte under a curfew about two months ago?

Just because you haven't seen an anti-Trump protest yet, doesn't mean there won't be one.

I had just gotten done telling someone here in LA "the protest here seems very small, nothing like the other cities". About an hour later they were blocking two freeways, starting fires, running amok, etc.

So don't speak too soon.

Well with Loretta Lynch gone and hopefully Giuliani in charge we might just see the IRS and FBI taking a closer look at Gyorgy Schwartz.
