Turns out that the 2-3 million 'criminal illegal aliens' figure refers to a study which found that there are 1.9 million people in US who could be deported due to having a criminal record, but 57% of them are not illegal aliens, but people with residency permit. So, yes, they could be deported, or are in process of being deported, but they are not illegal aliens.
That's what so many people don't understand. Local police departments don't have the resources to corral illegal aliens. The INS is already backlogged with cases that can take years to process. Where is L.A. County supposed to keep these people until ICE can pick them up? We're talking about thousands of people at any given time. Are we gonna pay for a new facility for Los Angeles to house these people and pay for the new deputies needed to guard these people and their families?
People are being reactionary. They aren't thinking.
Could you think of any more excuses? Your post is just filled with inaccuracies like "coral illegal aliens". You've been watching too much CNN. Give it a rest.
And YOU don't understand that the local PD's are NOT being asked to corral anyone. They're just being asked to report criminals with known status deficiencies.
And FYI there's no such thing as "the INS"
You're being silly. They aren't getting in the illegal alien business. Point blank period.

Why don't you go out and arrest illegal aliens instead of bumping your gums online. You know...since it's so easy.
Stop being morons and you know who you are. Trump will stop federal funding for sanctuary cities. Cities that want to harbor immigrants can now pay for it themselves instead of asking other people to subsidize their own poverty and displacement.
At some point the citizens themselves might throw them out, now that they instead of someone else will pay.
Quite frankly, I'm skeptical.
Let's see if Trump actually makes good on his threat.
The mayor of LA or any other city who violates Federal Law
will be arrested, his police force taken over by Homeland Security
and all offenders sent to Federal penitentiaries.
That's quite an imagination you got there.
Get back to me when that actually happens.
