Why The Left Loves Totalitarians Like Fidel Castro

If you were wondering why people like Obama and Canada's PM were so saddened by (in)Fidel's passing...

I'm from the left and I'm happy that Castro is dead.

I don't think anyone was saddened by Castro's passing. But I think the US embargoes unified Cuba against the U.S. over issues 50 years old. Fifty years! The guy died of old age at 90. The world moves on. People are giving Castro more attention than he deserves. I find it comical that Trump is more worked up about a dead Castro than a live Putin.

In fact only Americans (and Cuban refugees in America) seriously hate him.
All other governments are either neutral or positive.

Castro did a lot for third world people around the world, particularly in Africa, where the was a major figure against European colonization of the continent. That is why is a global figure, and was good friends with revered figures such as Nelson Mandela. Whether that translated to compassion for his people at home, only those in Cuba can say.

Fidel Castro had...
  • firing squads
  • sank a tugboat killing women and children
  • shot down an American civilian airplane killing four with three Americans
  • had Cuban political prisoners
  • had forced labor camps UMAPs
  • religious repression against Cubans
  • separates Cuban families
  • restricts movements of Cubans
  • had foreign interventions which lead to thousands of deaths
  • espionage

I'm of the opinion that folks on the left are stupid and/or evil.

Look no further than Little Havana in Miami and see what those folks are doing now, and see what the folks in Cuba are doing / are forced to be doing. The folks from there who know better than me and y'all are dancing and partying in the streets while brandishing Cuban AND American flags.

Just look at the difference between the news coverage of this on FOX vs CNN.
