Has it come to that point yet where it is more productive for the country to be divided based on political riffs? If not, is there a point where it would be more beneficial?

We would be better off being divided.

No question....

The country is too big.

It is better divided as long as we find a way to keep the federal funds divided too. An electoral college where small rural states control larger more populous and more prosperous states is a problem. Once we find a way for West coast and Northeast states to keep their money then the middle can do whatever they want.

For the media, yes. Divisiveness, tension and controversial opinions means ratings for them. People are drawn to drama.

Divided? Not sure how long Liberals would survive with no way to defend their new found country, California and Newyorkastan. I've been in the Defense Industry most of my entire career as an Aerospace Engineer, and in all that time I dont remember any one Engineer or Technician claiming to be a Liberal, ever. You can add to that most every machine shop and sub-component parts supplier, the DOD and the vast majority of the Military Leadership in the country.

But our technology may make certain defense weapons moot. Just different ways of thinking.

United, we stand, divided we fall...
United to do WHAT?
Secure the endowed rights of Americans from predators, domestic and foreign.

BUT
What happens when the government is infiltrated by predators?

Suppose the Western States were to separate and add British Columbia, then drag Alaska kicking and protesting into it, would they be more prosperous? Has anyone who knows the economic facts, ever made a projection about how that would work out? Just assuming that there would be no war over it and a mutual North American defense pact could form, that would include everyone on the continent.

I'm all for it but not Alaska, ugh. Ultimately I think something like that will happen though. People are self sorting to such a degree that no one wants to live near those they disagree with.
