I have to say it seems like only high-profit margin industries seem to be able to exist on the coasts, while middle-America has the mass quanity non-cyclical industries.
The West Coast and BosWash corridor only offer high taxes, extremely high health costs, high unemployment insurance costs and lots of red tape.
As more health care costs are passed on to commercial insurers and the rates have to skyrocket, it will squeeze low-profit margin employers off the expensive, elite coasts.
They also have to pay a massive amount to retain anyone also compared to middle-America and the South.
It seems when I search online for "new jobs to the area" and related searches the big moves are to low-cost metropolitan areas like Texas, Florida and places that roll out the red carpet to business.
A couple can live better on $15 an hour each in middle-America if they don't have kids then a married couple with children can live on $100,000+ on the expensive coasts.
