You would think someone who lives on Long Island and most likely knew or knows someone who knows someone who died on 9/11, wouldn't be so flippant about this.

What worries me is the MS-13 gangs in Brentwood and Hempstead, not so much asylum seekers.
This came out a month ago, they are asylum seekers and Australia has a pollicy of off shoring. I have not heard it was anywhere from 400 on up. Maybe Trump can place them in Guantanamo since they have some openings.
They are from countries around the world.
Australias recent policy shift of no person seeking asylum "illegally" will be settled in Australia has created this issue. These are people who have been deemed as refugees ( not 'economic refugees' whom we often process then return).
I have read it's 400, & families only. They're not necessarily Muslims.
I also understood in the original deal, Australia would take same amount from Costa Rica. Kind of distasteful - this idea of people swapping. I don't think this is a good policy or precedent.
As for Australia's policy, it is harsh. Though, this illegal industry did see people, kids- dying at sea. This isn't crossing some tame waters. Australia has also increased its official refugee intake, which I much prefer than forcing people to give what little money they have to these "people smugglers".
