Nixon's One-China Policy was both unnecessary and a mistake.

Trump is free to take a new direction regarding policies with China and Taiwan.

No, because it's not a tariff on imported foreign goods.

Well, yes he can target only US-based manufacturers.

That would be the long and short of it. It's Crony Capitalism & Corporate Welfare at its finest.

Just because you can't get by on $0.28/hour doesn't mean other people cannot.

If it puts America to work doing real jobs, it will be money well spent compared to all the welfare, stupid unproductive government jobs and crappy roads I have to pay for. I don't get squat for the taxes I am coerced into paying. But I am finally getting representation, as demanded.

Do you really think that Walmart & the Koch Bros. will allow Trump to impose tariffs?

Except he is doing as I say, not as I do. His Macy's line should have been first as should his Chinese steel. Until he wishes to end his personal dealings with foreign companies or subject his own personal dealings to the same scrutiny, than I can't take this policy serious, like his Carrier deal. Trump is such a hypocrite that it is sickening, yet so many people bought his act hook, line and sinker. P.T. Barnum was right, a sucker was born every minute.

To be fair though, Walmart DOES have a larger amount of "made in the USA" branded items that they sell in their stores. The fact remains Trump is a YUGE stakeholder in a number of trades that should be subject to these tariffs as well. As I mentioned above he has two choices:
  1. End these dealings prior to being subjected to the tariffs.
  2. Subject his business dealings to these tariffs.
If he does neither of those two should this pass congress, he would easily be found as a corrupt politician (not that I need more proof already.)

I would call it a road use fee, not a tax, on most if not all imports. VAT tax is used by many countries on imported goods so let's get on board with it.

what's so wrong with this import tax? Did you do any research before you voiced your opinion? Go take a look at the import taxes already in place all over the world.
