I have to wonder why electronics should be so different? We have robots performing surgeries these days so surely an electronics production line could be automated? At least we could put Americans to work designing, building, programming, and maintaining those robots.

China has a monopoly on the rare earth material needed, controlling something like 95%.

US made electrical items that do exist are high/professionl end not the $7.99 DVD player at wal mart.

The best bench grinders, for instance are still made right here, Baldor.

Well my cars are Japanese, I'd say that half of my clothes and shoes are made in the USA. The other half are made in Europe. With the exception of electronics, and sneakers, I don't think I buy anything that comes out of developing nations that exploit workers.
