He hasn't even stepped in office and manufacturing jobs are at a 9 year high. That lazy Obama didn't do jack squat all 8 years and Trump turns the economy around in a little over a month:
Yes, a person could get a foot in the door entry level and be trained on the job. Now there is no bottom.
I was working a summer job at a computer company years ago and a guy was walking around through the warehouse and assembly area, yelling out - "anybody want to be a tech?" Anyone who said yep was trained to be a tech. The company wanted loyal people happy to work there and have opportunities and it worked.
Exactly. Many years ago I worked on the floor at a robotics factory, I was in final assembly. Two individuals I worked with then, 28 years ago are still there. One is in design the other in management.
I don't think those opportunities still exist, and if they do , it is at a much smaller scale.

Here is another ironic. Robotics is a major part of what is changing manufacturing. Robots are doing unskilled jobs that people once did.

People keep talking about robotics as if it is something that is new. I remember my dad that was a welder repairmen at the time retraining to become a robotics repairmen back in the 80's. All the manual welders on his line were being replaced with robotic welders. So all this blame being placed on automation is about 30 years past it's time. You still need electricians, millrights, tool makers, engineers , designers, etc to keep an automated line open....that is unless the entire line is in a low cost country, and that is the real problem.
