American Business has billions invested in Russia. This despite Obama's silly sanctions.

United States Astronauts need to ride on Putin's Spaceships to go to space station after Obama gutted NASA.
ISIS, which rose to power under Obama, is a common enemy of the United States and Russian Federation. Trump promises to work with Russia, instead of against them, to defeat this common foe.
Seems to me this doesn't describe an enemy country.

The left has always been the pro Communist party, case in point, Obama's buddies: Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Van Jones, The Castros, etc. Why the flip, who knows?

Don't forget, it was Reagan who dubbed Russia "the evil empire". Russia and the US have been clashing over NATO buildup along Russia's borders. When a US Deputy Sec'y of Defense visited Finland a few months ago to discuss Finland's interest in joining NATO, Russian air force violated Finnish airspace twice, to signal their opinion on the matter. This is not the action of a friendly nation. And before you blame NATO buildup on Obama, Bush II was a part of it. It's been US policy consistently, irrespective of which party has been in power.
