Supposedly here in Chicago, we are already at 3 murders in the first 6 hours into 2017.

Well I don't think it is fair that most people awake across the world during the first few hours of any given year are to some degree intoxicated. Kind of puts everyone off to an unruly start doesn't it? Of course there are homicides right away NY day... That is not some phenomenon unique to Chicago.

So how many murders happen every year is now a trending topic like it's sports or something.People lose their lives and it seem like a few posters look at it like a competition between cities.

Well it happens to deal with perceptions of cities. People think Chicago is a dangerous city because of the amount of murders but if you aren't black or young how likely are you to be murdered there?

Yeah, but it's more like golf. The lower the score, the better. If a city has higher numbers than the same time last year, it's a bogie.
