Did you not bother to read that the bust was LOANED to the WH for Bush's term only , and was never intended to stay in the WH past Bush's term?

I really don't know why Martin Luther Kings bust was in the oval office. Obama never practiced MLK's politics. Obama should have had a bust of a black panther . It would have been more like Obama and his beliefs.

That was the "spin" put on it by the Obama Administration when it blew up in their face. The British had no requirement for it to be returned.
