Hopefully this won't become a trend to "protest" Trump's decision -- more and more countries barring Americans, weakening our passport.

FWIW, while I personally have zero interest in visiting Iran, I'm sure there are some in the various fields of history, archaeology, etc. who do have an interest in visiting the country for research purposes. We should carefully screen Iranians who visit our country but I don't think a closed door policy is productive.
